10 inspiring chat services to be showcased at inaugural Chat for Impact Demo Day 2021

Ten inspiring WhatsApp chat services will be showcased at the inaugural Chat for Impact Demo Day 2021 powered by WhatsApp in partnership with Praekelt.org and Turn.io, taking place virtually on September 30th.

The Chat for Impact Demo Day will showcase the WhatsApp chat services that have been developed by social impact organisations including Digify Africa, Ladysmith, Mobile Pathways, Reach52, SameSame, Strongminds, Talk2U, Voices of Venezuela, Vote.org and Worldreader to enhance the work they are doing to securely reach and positively impact their respective communities.

Over the last four months, all 10 organizations, drawn from regions across the world, were participants in the Chat for Impact Accelerator which has supported each organization with funding, mentorship and technical guidance to fasttrack the development of their chat service. Each one has developed a unique WhatsApp messaging service to scale their impact in advancing social justice and equality.

The Chat for Impact Accelerator was launched out of the Chat for Impact Summit powered by WhatsApp and hosted by Turn.io which took place in May this year in the Americas and APAC/EMEA regions and which featured a programme of powerful keynote speakers, insightful and inspiring panels and training for 30 organizations.

The inaugural Chat for Impact Demo Day 2021 will be an opportunity to amplify the important work and impact of the 10 organizations selected by a panel of judges for the Accelerator. It will also help foster future partnerships and collaborations and secure funding for the growth and sustainability of their services. Invited attendees will be able to talk directly to representatives of the 10 organizations by entering the organization’s live booth.

Although the Demo Day is an invite-only event, the 10 use case presentations will be streamed live as part of the Chat for Impact Summit’s intention to build a chat for impact community that can benefit from shared knowledge, experience and insights.

Ladysmith

Cosas de Mujeres builds bridges between women and the services they need, while generating actionable data on gender-based violence.

Mobile Pathways

Mobile Pathways makes it easier to stay by helping immigrants gain access to reliable legal information about their numerous pathways to immigration and walks them through the complex process using mobile phone technology.

Reach 52

The 52% live where traditional services don’t reach, lacking access to education, screening, doctors, vaccines and meds. Reach 52’s ‘offline-first’ platform enables access to these services, run by community health workers and members. This WhatsApp service will be central, connecting users to digital and on-the-ground health services they need.

SameSame

SameSame provides a safe, private space for people who feel different to access support, so that nobody has to struggle alone.

StrongMinds

Provides mental health education and support, links to depression screenings, and free group therapy to women in mental health deserts across Africa.

Talk2U

Talk2U encourages honest and inspiring conversations to empower young generations to embrace positive change through their SEM VERGONHA ‘chat story’ service. They believe that encouraging young girls to talk about sex will improve their health and well-being

Voices of Venezuela

It is difficult for migrant women to access reliable, easy to understand information, leading to widespread non-legal migration statuses and living off alternative exploitive economies.  By empowering them with information we elevate the entire migrant community.

Vote.org

Leverage the WhatsApp platform to create an ongoing culture of civic engagement + increase participation in American democracy.

Worldreader

We strive to eradicate Book Poverty in ‘bottom of the pyramid’ homes and classrooms around the world.
