Financial Manager


Key Focus Areas:

  • Management of funding and sales revenue: Ensure accurate reporting and tracking of funding runway as well as ensuring that our accounts receivables are managed effectively;
  • Compliance and accounting: Work with our financial advisors to ensure that is compliant with all accounting reporting requirements in the markets in which we operate;
  • General financial management: Ensure that all financial management is handled efficiently and accurately, with the relevant levels of confidentiality or transparency required by the business;
  • Financial modelling: Work with the Co-Founders to review the relevant pricing models for and to use this to support long-term financial planning.


  • Prepare annual budgets and provide feedback on budget vs actual variances; 
  • Prepare monthly / quarterly / annual management reports for the Co-Founders, Board and Funders (as required);
  • Work with the Partnerships team to ensure that the billing process is run effectively and that revenue is received promptly from our clients, either via our current tool Paddle or via an alternative solution which you recommend;
  • Support the Co-Founders in effective long-term financial planning;
  • Take full responsibility for payments and team payroll processing;
  • Review future monthly forecasts and assist the management team to ensure that budgets are not overspent;
  • Manage month end processing and ensure that the data reflected in Xero provides the management team with an accurate and clear understanding of our financial status;
  • Prepare bi-annual provisional tax and annual tax returns as well as managing any required audits;
  • Work with our local tax advisors to ensure that the required returns are submitted timeously;
  • Maintain a cash flow projection system with accurate data, ensuring that Turn’s cash flow is kept positive by handling collections and managing the age analysis as well as effective management of the funder accounts;
  • Work with the management team to identify areas to improve our financial operations, including automating and streamlining our processes wherever possible;
  • Maintain updated records of company due diligence documentation.

 About You

  • You have at least 7 years of relevant financial management experience with a relevant accounting degree. You have worked in organisations with global reach and have a good understanding of the current US tax regulations (noting that we do have US based financial advisors to provide specialist support).
  • You have excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • You are able to work independently without supervision, but also be collaborative, and love an action-orientated, start-up environment.
  • You have proficiency with a variety of software and you aren’t afraid to try new software and teach yourself new tools, digital or not. Knowledge of Xero would be useful, but not essential.
  • You have a strong command of the English language—written, read, and spoken—and can clearly articulate the rationale behind your financial recommendations.
  • You are passionate about SaaS financial management and seek to expand your knowledge and grow your skills; even if you’ve been doing this for years, you strive to learn.
  • You are excited about using your skills to have a positive social impact.
